Looking back down the Kern River Valley

Past where Kern-Kaweah forks off, the valley's starts climbing much more steeply, making the Kern sound like something that needed its photo taken. Unfortunately, post-processing these photos is where I learned that I don't have the coordination to shoot 1/250' exposure without more stabilization assistance than a monopod, so the photos I ended up with are annoyingly blurry.

This on is blurry, has whack lighting, and I chopped the head off the tree in the foreground.

Downstream shots are much harder than upstream shots. Even if it were not blurry, this would be hard to salvage. The hill is too backlit, and the foreground tree is in the way and can't be cropped out without getting rid of the best bits of the river.

A look at the Upper Kern Basin. Something just feels a little anti-gravity about the fact that the river flows from right to left in this photo. The gorge hides how much the river drops off before the canyon exits the frame on the left.
